MSN Behaving Badly
The MSN servers are currently experiencing some trouble. We’ve had reports of this from a lot of people, and well, there isn’t a whole lot we can do about it (since it’s a problem on Microsoft’s end), but we’ll keep you guys apprised of the situation.
In the mean time, this would be a great opportunity to check out XMPP (also known as Jabber), a free and open chat protocol.

Are you sure it’s just the servers having problems??
coz after the problems started i downloaded microsoft messenger 6.0 and it works without any problems at all.
Maybe microsoft has updated something on their servers and discarded support for the older versions (coz i had to update my old microsoft messenger), including adium..?
just a thought..

I’ve gotten a few complaints from windows users who don’t even use Adium.
If this is the case, we’re still screwed, because it’s then up to Gaim to implement the new features of the newer MSN protocol.
So, uh, yeah

We’re also experiencing problems with AIM today as well. Both MSN Messenger for Mac latest and iChat are not working properly, so it’s definitely not an Adium problem.

Oh good, I had this yesterday, glad to know it isn’t Adium’s fault. I’m in the UK BTW.

ahhh.. good to know it wasn’t adium then =)
Got a bit worried there for a while.. I hate using other clients.. like microsoft’s messenger *recoils*
Keep up the good work Adium Developers! =)

Today it’s wrong again. Can’t get MSN up and running. MSN Messenger does work.. Maybe they did change something over there at MS?

AFAIK Windows live was released some days ago… maybe they changed something in the servers; we are using a really old protocol version

Not a whole lot we can do but sit tight, folks.

Wasn’t Microsoft going to link AIM with MSN or something at some point? I wonder if this is related?

I seem to be having intermittent problems using the official MSN client (ver 6.0).
So perhaps the problem is not restricted to Adium itself (for the moment).
It maybe that whilst Microsoft & Yahoo are in the phase of integrating their IM platforms – they are experiencing the current fallout.
