Adium 1.3.3 now available!
The Adium team is proud to announce the availability of Adium 1.3.3. This release sports a whole bunch of improvements and bug fixes, including smarter behavior with offline messaging, better group chat reliablity, and Facebook awesomeness (like showing the person’s Facebook info in the Contact Inspector)… as well as a slew of Gadu-Gadu, ICQ, MSN, and MySpace improvements from the libpurple team. So I installed this version and it reduced my Facebook Contact names to what looks to be their specific contact signup # (like person 300000) etc instead of the name of the person. Surprised after so many betas and RC’s. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Any reason I can’t seem to turn off the broadcast of my iTunes current playing song in status message? My friends are reporting they still see my itunes playlist even after i switch to different status… Am I doing something stupid here?

Hmm,
I installed the update but facebook support seems totally broken for me. When Adium restarted I just constantly get “Error SSL Connection Failed”. I never had any probs with facebook on Adium 1.3.2 so I guess I’ll go back to that for a while. Oh, I’m connecting through a proxy … could that be part of the problem?

With version 1.3.3, facebook contacts randomly are un-grouped from previous groups and are placed in the default Facebook group. This did not happen in previous version.

Hi,
there is a problem with the facebook plugin at least since 1.3.2.
There is something going wrong with umlauts in passwords for logins. Maybe it is stored somewhat wrongly. At least my impression is, that there is one char showed to much. So I would guess, there might be something like an UTF-8 encoding issue for the passwords.
Current workaround, chose another password

When the program is closed the duck’s eyes are open, where as in the old version the eyes would close when the program was not running. When the program is running but no account is signed on the eyes are closed, but not when you completely quit the program. Please please change this back.

Hi all,
I am a longtime user of Adium and I love the interface and all the great work done by the team. I particularly appreciate the possibility to reduce interface to its very minimum, as I don’t like clutter on my desktop. but I use mainly Adium in my small business environment and I have a growing feeling that features are now seriously lagging behind the competition.
I don’t see any differences between the various updates, nor see any new features on the horizon. I don’t use MSN or Facebook but I now see myself running more and more often Skype, with its video and screen share features. this is great. the day Skype will propose clean skins, I won’t see anymore the need to keep Adium running.
I am sorry to say but it will be a shame to get away from the fantastic work you are doing. I am ready to pay to get some video or cooperative features (such as Evernote or screen share)
Again, congrats for the great work. But the food chain is changing.

i LOVE adium. not as much as my gf but close. for some reason on the latest version when i send message to someone offline it does not ask me to send when the person gets online anymore. i LOVED that feature. what happened?

I just updated Adium to 1.3.3 version and I don’t manage to make it work again. It tries to get connected, but the icon on the dock keeps on spinning conituously withut connecting me anywhere. I had the same problem time ago with a previous version. That the beta of 1.3.3 came and everything was fine. Now I’m again without my beloved Adium. Can you somehow fix it, or does it depend on my connection/computer/anything else?

My Adium was decimated by the update; it wouldn’t run at all. It blew up on launch and relaunch repeatedly after the update. I’m grateful, though, that downloading and installing the software made everything hunky dory afterwards; my preferences were left intact so that after the install, I was back to normal. Whew!

I had the same problem as PuppyKitty. After the update it refuesd to launch, instantly bringing up the OS X dialog box saying it had crashed. I could relaunch and reset prefs or something as an option, but even on trying that it still didn’t work.
I busted out Time Machine and deleted the /User/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0 dir as well as the adium app itself, restored from a recent backup and all was well. 1.33 RC1 is what I’m back to running now and its fine.

I’m having some Gadu-Gadu issues with status. When I try to change the status to “invisible” I’m still “available”. I cannot even set the “invisible” status manually. It’s so annoying

I want to be able to copy the emoticons from my conversations and add them to my library of emoticons and be able to use them later on, just like in msn messenger for mac!

I’ve had three crashes this morning, adium is typically extremely stable. When hovering over contacts to see status the program hangs and crashes. I can send console reports if you want, please email me if you want them. I also installed Safari 4 beta yesterday, don’t know if this is doing anything to adium or not.

I can confirm that my adium update (I just clicked yes/install when prompted) resulted in “this app is not supported on this architecture”. I had to reinstall adium from a new full download to fix it.

My automatic update also resulted in non working Adium – mine didn’t give any “this app is not supported on this architecture”-errors, it just crashed instantly when I tried to start it. Downloading and installing full Adium works fine.
I’m running OSX 10.5.6@early 2007 MacBook Pro.

Same issue as in 1.3.2. MSN keeps connecting but I can never log on. It just showing “retrieving buddy list (100%)”. Someone pls look into this, the official client sucks.

I got MSN working finally!!! For some reason I had to sign in to Windows Live by going to http://profile.live.com/
After signing in, I had to agree to a new click-through terms of service and now Adium is working! Hooray!

I have had the same issues with Tony and Skye, but are working now. Temporarily you can go to account prefs and set the connection to HTTP in the third tab (I think). That worked for me when i could connect.
The issue I have found now though. Is that as you say you have switched to the Pidgen protocol on the Facebook connection then it seems to hold the entire list of users, whether logged on or not, from session to session. It would be good if this list could be cleared and only active users are shown on the list. Like before.

Alright…this is really werid…all of a sudden, I mean this doesn’t relate specifically to the update, but my settings and everything haven’t changed at all, but i no longer get audio and growl notifications, they are all turned on and everything, but a day ago it all stopped…my sound is working fine, so is growl, it’s an adium only problem and I can’t for the life of me figure out WHY. it’s so sudden, and I realize how much I miss the audio and growl notifications. help?

MSN won’t connect after installing 1.3.3, not even after changing the settings to connect HTTP and using open DNS. It stops at ‘Retrieving buddy list’ and sometimes changes into ‘Error: reading error” after a period of time, then begins connecting from handshaking again, cycle repeats. This has been going on for days now; I’m at a loss. Please help?

I continue to get the message “The AIM servers were temporarily unable to send your buddy list. Your buddy list is not lost, and will probably become available in a few minutes.” I’m not sure if it is a result of using the contact importer on Facebook.

Ever since I downloaded 1.3.3, I’ve had all sorts of problems with my contact lists. First, people who sign off stay in my contact list even though I have it set up with a collapsed list of offline contacts. Now, people who sign off show as being online even though they aren’t. It’s really glitchy. Any sign of 1.3.4 coming out? Or a patch to fix 1.3.3?

Anyone else having problems actually downloading Adium? I’ve tried under Safari and Firefox (current revisions of both), and it downloads a bit over 150k, then stops. The DMG file is invalid (no surprise there), and is being downloaded from cachefly.net. Is there another mirror I could pull it down from?

I just downloaded 1.3.3 and out of no where my adium will sign me off then start up but my buddy list wont show. my wi-fi bars isn’t low or anything and this never happened before :[
i switched over from ichat to adium because of this problem and now adiums doing it too.
