Adium X 0.88 beta is now available for your testing pleasure. This is not going to be a very exciting release unless you’re a member of the Intel-based Macintosh ‘elite’; as hard work continues as a fast pace on the next major release of Adium (and it’ll be well worth the wait, trust me), we bring you 0.88 primarily as a Universal binary for native support of both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs. We would love to hear from you if you’re using an Intel Mac and running the beta successfully (or unsucessfully).

When Adium X will allow to use web cam?
Today it is a feature that most people want to see in a software like this before download it… and mac only has mercury. Adium x could take advantage on that 😉

The Intel version works great except for one thing – sound. Audio alerts do not work at all. Nothing plays when an audio alert is triggered, and if something like iTunes is outputting sound the sound gets distorted while AdiumX would normally be playing the alert. Other than that, this new Unibin works great. Nice and fast too.

Thanks for a “helpful” bug report, anonymous. Are you on an Intel mac? Is file transfer not working for you a new thing? Is no avatar refresh a new thing?

i’m not using the 0.88 beta, or an intel based mac. But still avatars have never refreshed, is there a way to fix this?

I’m on Intel. Works under Rosetta. Crashes directly on startup when using Intel:
    Exception: EXC_ARITHMETIC (0x0003)
    Codes: EXC_I386_DIV (divide by zero)

    Thread 0 Crashed:
    0 Adium 0x10012b8a -[AIIconState _compositeStates:withBaseState:animatingState:forFrame:] + 382
    1 Adium 0x100125f5 -[AIIconState initByCompositingStates:] + 337
